Seismic noise analysis in the seismometer network of Spain.

The seismometer network of the National Seismic Network is mainly placed in the countryside, far from populated areas, highways, roads and any other infrastructure that may produce some ground vibrations. The main goal of these seismic stations is to record the ground velocity generated by earthquakes and they are characterized by having a very low level of ambient noise and a high sensitivity to ground vibrations.

The cessation of human activities due to confinement by COVID-19 has been reflected in the minimum levels of daily averaged anthropic noise (2 to 5 dB below the level prior to confinement) recorded in the seismometers of the National Seismic Network during spring 2020, despite its installation in remote locations.
