Privacy and Data Protection of personal data

The CNIG protects personal data according to the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation 2016-679 of 27th of April 2016 and the Law 3/2018 on the Protection of Personal Data and guarantee of digital rights.

The collection and automated processing of personal data is aimed at the management, provision, extension and improvement of the services requested at all times by the user and the appropriate attention, response and follow-up of queries raised by users. Personal data will be treated in accordance with the regulations in force for each Treatment Activity whose characteristics are collected in accordance with article 30 of the RGDP in the Treatment Activities Registry (RAT) of the Autonomous Body of the National Centre for Geographic Information (CNIG).

In accordance with the obligation established in Article 37 of the GDPR, the CNIG has designated a DATA PROTECTION DELEGATE (DPD), which has, among other functions, assigned to respond to inquiries and complaints that may be directed to the CNIG, such as responsible for the different treatments of personal data, through the following form. It also acts as a point of contact with the Spanish Agency for Data Protection.

The interested party may exercise before the person responsible for the treatment the rights of access, rectification, deletion, limitation of the treatment, portability and opposition, provided for in articles 13 to 18 of the LOPDGDD, by means of a telematic procedure that is accessed through this link: Exercise of personal data protection rights.

The user authorizes the automatic handling of the provided personal data required for the provision of the agreed services. The created database is located at the headquarters of the Information Technology Department of the Autonomous Body of the National Centre for Geographic Information in Madrid (Spain).

The information included in the aforementioned database is used on the one side for the correct identification of the users who request customized services through this website, and on the other side to conduct statistical assessments about the registered users in order to design improvements of the provided services, perform basic administration tasks and to communicate incidences, promotions or news to registered users via E-mail, as well as for the proper attention, response and follow-up of the enquiries posed by the users.

In any case, the user will be accountable for the truthfulness of the provided information. The CNIG reserves itself the right to exclude from the registered services any user who may have provided fake information, notwithstanding further legal actions, if applicable.

The data collected through E-mails will be confidentially processed with no permanent storage and is exclusively used by the CNIG, with the purpose of giving adequate response to posed enquiries concerning the purchasing process and the products of the website.

Should the user be under-aged, the CNIG strongly recommends to check with his/her parents about the convenience of browsing the content of this web and to receive prior advice about the consequences resulting from the submission of personal information, according to the rules established in the present Privacy Policy.

The CNIG is entitled to modify the present Privacy Policy to adapt it to legislation, jurisprudence or interpretation changes enacted by the Spanish Agency for Data Protection. In this case, the CNIG will notify such modifications well in advance, clearly stating the conducted modifications and, if applicable, requesting their acceptance to those concerned by such changes.
