Shapefiles are vector files which store geometric information. Each Shapefile contains at least three files: “.shp”, “.shx”, “.dbf”. The geometry attributes are stored into a table with dBASE format.

According to SIOSE data model, shapefiles are corresponding to “T_POLIGONOS” table in the other formats.
