The owner of this web site is the Autonomous Agency National Center for Geographic Information Systems (hereinafter CNIG), which is part of the National Geographic Institute (hereinafter IGN), located in Madrid, on Calle General Ibáñez de Ibero, 3.

the CNIG reserves the right to modify this web site without prior notice, in order to update, correct, modify, add or delete its content or design. The contents and services offered by this web site shall be updated periodically.

All information obtained through this web site, as well as from any reply to issues raised in contact forms, or emails from the CNIG, is intended for providing general information and assistance to citizens, in accordance with the terms established in Article 4 of Royal Decree 208/1996, dated February 9, which regulates administrative information and citizens services, and shall therefore not bear any legal binding effect.

Users undertake to access the web site and use its content in a proper and legal manner and, in particular, to use the tools and services offered through this website in accordance with the current legislation at all times.

Both the design of the web site and its source code, as well as the logos, trademarks, and other distinctive signs appearing in it, are property of the CNIG or its collaborating entities, and are protected by the corresponding intellectual and industrial property rights. Their transformation, alteration, re-use, reproduction, or copy, are strictly prohibited, unless expressly authorized by the IGN or the CNIG in writing. The use of any mechanism that alters the configuration or contents of the Portal or accessing the latter with a view to profit by third parties is also prohibited

The contents of the web site hosted on the IGN and the CNIG servers are also protected by the corresponding intellectual and industrial property rights, and are property of the IGN and the CNIG. However, the CNIG allows the use, total or partial reproduction, distribution, public communication, re-use, or any other similar activities of texts, documents, pictures, and audio-visual material property of the CNIG contained in this web site, according to the provisions of "The Reuse of Public Sector Information" section in this document.

Reciprocally, the CNIG complies with all the regulations relating to respect for intellectual property, and use of on-line external and protected material, which only appears with proper authorization and, where appropriate, citing its source.

Articles 4 and 5 of Royal Decree 663/2007, dated May 25, on the Statute of the Autonomous Agency National Center for Geographic Information, empowers the CNIG to: “Market and promote the products and services of the Directorate General for the National Geographic Institute, and in particular:

a) The dissemination and marketing, both at a national and international level, of the cartographic production and services of the Directorate General for the National Geographic Institute.

b) The distribution and marketing of all other data, applications, and services of the Directorate General for the National Geographic Institute.

c) Commercial management and exploitation of all technology breakthroughs developed by the Directorate General for the National Geographic Institute.

d) To boost, promote and market, within the scope of the Public Administrations, the printing services provided by the Directorate General for the National Geographic Institute.

e) Management of the “Autonomous Agency National Center for Geographic Information Publishing House”.

f) Promotion of exhibits and infrastructures for the dissemination of historic heritage of the Directorate General for the National Geographic Institute and its Museum.”

Downloads via the web site of files whose rights may not be property of the IGN or CNIG, are backed by agreements with the corresponding bodies from the proprietary Public Administrations.

In accordance with Organic Law 15/1999, dated December 13, on Personal Data Protection, the CNIG is committed to complying with its obligation of confidentiality with respect to the personal data collected in forms, registers, or e-mails, and with the duty to treat them with confidentiality. To this end, the CNIG shall take all necessary measures to avoid their alteration, loss, treatment or unauthorized access.
The CNIG exclusively obtains and stores the following information about visitors to our web site:

a) Domain name of the visitors internet service provider. This enables us to compile statistics on the countries and servers that most frequently visit our web site.

b) Date and time of access to our web site. This allows us to find out the busiest times of access and make the necessary adjustments to avoid saturation at peak times.

c) Number of daily visitors. This allows us to ascertain visitor traffic to our web site, so that the users obtain a more satisfactory result. The information obtained is completely anonymous, which means that it can not be associated to a concrete and identified user.

The data collected from e-mails shall be treated confidentially, and without permanent storage, and shall be exclusively used by the IGN and the CNIG, in order to reply to queries related to the download process and products of the web site.

Governing law and jurisdiction

The applicable law in case of dispute or conflict over the interpretation of the terms contained in this Legal notice, as well as in any matter related to the services of this web site, shall be the Spanish law.

For the resolution of any dispute which may arise as a result of visiting this web site, or using the services herein offered, both the CNIG and the user agree to submit to the Judges and Courts of the users domicile, provided that it is situated in Spanish territory.

Re-use of Public Sector Information (RISP)

The following general conditions apply for the re-use of texts, documents, pictures, and audio-visual material owned by the CNIG and contained in this web site:

 The use of data sets shall be carried out by the users or agents re-using such data at their own risk, which means that they shall be solely responsible for any damages to third parties that may arise from such use.

The CNIG shall not be held liable for the use of information made by re-users, or for any damages or economic losses that, either directly or indirectly, produce or may produce economic, material or data-related damages resulting from such re-used information.

The IGN and the CNIG do not guarantee continuity in the availability of re-usable documents, neither in content nor in form, and not undertake any responsibilities for the errors or omissions contained therein.

 Obligations of re-users

Re-users are bound by the applicable regulations on the re-use of public sector information, including the the sanctioning regime provided for in Article 11 of Law 37/2007, dated November 16, on the re-use of public sector information.

This website may provide access to other external web sites deemed of interest to users. The aim of such links is solely to provide resources that we believe may be interesting. Data policy for geographic information

Specifically, for geographic information generated by the IGN, without prejudice to the above-mentioned RISP general conditions, and to the provisions in the legal framework on Intellectual Property in Spain, the Spanish State holds the intellectual property and all other rights to the geographic information generated by the IGN, and to the services using such geographic information provided by the IGN or by the CNIG.

In view of the foregoing, and of the data policy set forth by the IGN, which can be found in Order FOM/2807/2015, the use of information from geographic data products and services therein defined, implies acceptance of the general conditions of such Order by the user, as specified in the following user license, compatible with CC-BY 4.0./p>

Rules of use in Social Networks

The social networks of the national geographical Institute and National Centre for geographic information are intended to provide information to users and disseminating the content related to the institution. It is available without registration. Thank you for the comments and contributions that users wish to make always using proper and polite language and respecting the privacy of others.

Communication equipment reserves the right to remove or not to answer the comments that contain the following elements:

  • Links to pages with offensive content or offensive expressions. Not remain published links or references to illegal sites, violent, sexual, racist or discriminatory content.
  • Insults, disqualifications and offensive comments towards others in the community, and references in these terms to our service, institution, or team.

Transfer of images received in Social Networks

The authors of the photographs and images sent to any of the Social Networks owned by the National Geographic Institute (hereinafter, IGN) must be aware that:

  • By submitting these photographs, they will transfer the exploitation rights to the IGN and provide their authorization so that the IGN can publish them in any of its channels.
  • The IGN always undertakes to cite the source of the photographs sent by other users, indicating their authorship and the author's mention.
  • The user is completely unlinked from Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and is aware that he is providing his information to the National Geographic Institute of Spain..
  • The personal data will be treated maintaining the strictest confidentiality, adopting the required security measures for its treatment, and in no case will be transferred to third parties.

Also, by virtue of the Law 1/1982, of May 3,on the right to honor, personal and family privacy and to one's own image, and the same data protection regulations, hereby gives us your consent to disseminate the texts you provide us through our social networks.

In any case, you may exercise the rights of opposition, access, rectification and cancellation in the area recognized by the Regulations of Protection of natural persons UE(2016-679), of April 27, 2016, before the person in charge of the file, IGN, writing to the National Geographic Institute of Spain and CNIG at the address of C / General Ibáñez de Ibero, 3, Madrid, if there is a violation of their rights.

Privacy Policy for Mobile Applications

IGN mobile applications are non-commercial mobile applications.

This page is used to inform visitors about our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information should anyone choose to use our mobile aplications.

The purpose of the collection and automated processing of personal data is the management, provision, extension and improvement of the services requested at any given time by the user and the appropriate attention, response and follow-up of queries raised by users.

The user shall be responsible, in all cases, for the veracity of the provided data. IGN and CNIG reserve the right to exclude from the registered services any user who has provided false data, without prejudice to any legal action that may be appropriate.

If the user is underage, the IGN and the CNIG advise that they consult with their parents or legal guardians as to whether or not it is appropriate to browse the content of our mobile applications, and that they are previously advised of the consequences of providing their personal data, in accordance with the rules set out in this privacy policy.

If you choose to use our mobile applications, then you consent to the collection and use of information in connection with this policy.

If you do not agree to the terms of this policy, do not access or use IGN mobile applications.

COLLECTION AND USE OF INFORMATION

In our mobile applications you can choose to create content. This includes recording a track; recording a route; creating a point of interest; adding a photo or other data (video, sound, text).

Our mobile applications collect location data to enable the recording function of your ride, even when the app is closed or not in use. The app will only access location data in the background when you explicitly enable route recording, and will always indicate with an icon in the status bar that the app is recording your route in the background. At no other time will it access location data in the background. The app will ask you, the first time you activate GPS, for permission to always access that sensor.

This data is stored on your device, it is not shared with anyone, unless you expressly use the option to upload your routes to one of the websites that offer this service and collaborate with IGN.

The content you create (routes, tracks, points of interest, map layouts) contains location data.

If you add photos to tracks, the photo may contain a location, which is used to show the location of the photo on a map.

Your device requests your consent before any mobile application uses location for the first time, and you can withdraw that consent at any time through your device settings.

IGN mobile applications use a variety of services embedded in the device, and those services may have access to personal data, covered by the device's own Privacy Policy.

When accessing some maps and services, the service provider will know the IP address and other details of the browser or that these maps are being accessed from IGN mobile applications, but nothing that matches you personally.

We value your trust in providing us with your Personal Information. But please remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
